Anurag Kashyaps petition in High Court
Nov 26th 2013, 11:44, by Bollywood Hungama News Network

Anurag Kashyap will be filing a petition today at the Bombay High Court against the Censor Board as he refused to add the anti-smoking disclaimer in his upcoming film Ugly.

The Censor Board asked the director to carry the warning 'Cigarette smoking is injurious to health' in scenes which show the characters smoking. However, Anurag refused to abide by this and was planning to file a petition against the Censor Board after he refused to take the censor certificate for the film. Anurag Kashyap has filed a petition stating that this clearly restraints the rights of filmmakers to freedom of speech and expression. He also claimed that this warning destroys the aesthetic value of a film and distracts audience from the movie thus ruining the experience of watching a film. Anurag thinks that the Health Ministry should take the responsibility for the increasing tobacco usage and should take measures accordingly to curb the use. In the process, films should not be used as an advertisement campaign for anti-smoking.

The filmmaker is planning to challenge the court and has refused to accept the pre-condition of inserting an anti-smoking disclaimer and supporting him in this are also the producers of his film Phantom Films Pvt Ltd. and DAR Media Pvt. Ltd.
